As someone in active recovery, and having been prescribed anti-depressants for the better part of a decade, the first, and most important piece of advice I can give is; Don't Panic.  Many people are prescribed this form of medication for any number of illnesses, so you're not alone, and you're not the first person to be prescribed them.

Secondly, don't dismiss them outright, and think that you can do this "alone" - anti-depressants are not a cure all for mental illnesses. They are a tool, and like any tool, it needs to be used properly if it is to be effective.  Therefore, stick with them - take them regularly, don't mix alchohol with them, and don't forget to EAT!!!

Use them - be active  - eat well - get a good night's sleep.  You will get through this. All things pass.  Those aren't my words - it's just the way things are.
